Goldman Sachs 10K SB Cohort 18 at Wayne State University site in Detroit, MI

The Virtual Global Consultant (VGC) Group is one of the select businesses participating in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program in Detroit, Michigan, which started on January 16, 2020.

The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses is a program that helps entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity by providing them with greater access to education, financial capital and business support services. Through the program, participants will gain practical skills in topics such as negotiation, marketing, and employee management through a specialized curriculum.

The curriculum, designed by Babson College, is composed of nine modules that focuses on practical skills that participants can immediately put into action within their company. It encourages participants to develop a strategic and customized business growth plan that will take their company to the next level.

The VGC Group founders Naomi Jordan Cook and W.E. Da’Cruz jumped at the opportunity to be part of the program. “This is an ideal way to start 2020 because The VGC Group has always believed in growing through education and the importance of networking and creating partnerships,” explains Cook, Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer.

The program spans 15 learning sessions which include networking events, legal and financial clinics and other business assistance activities. Qualified participants can gain access to capital and funding through the program’s partner institutions.

The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program currently operates in 30 markets in the U.S. through a network of more than 100 academic and community partners. For the Detroit and Southeast Michigan leg, partners include Wayne State University, Macomb Community College and Oakland Community College.

“We were eager to be a part of this program and get support from a network of advisors and peers backed by the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business program to help our business develop a sustainable and implementable plan to scales,” says, Da’Cruz, Co-founder and Chief Operations Officer. “The growth of VGC allows us to continue our advocacy in creating employment for people across the world.”

The VGC Group, together with other participating businesses, is set to complete the program in May 2020.
